You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.
This story of a brave and combatant girl named Nikita will make you look at life from a different perspective. We, under Project Samvedna, had a visit to Earth Saviours Foundation to get in conversation with people there who are physically or mentally challenged.
Nikita, the name exemplifies victory. Like her name, this rebellious girl achieved victory in her life irrespective of the atrocities faced by her. She was sitting with a young girl wearing a yellow suit and was observing everyone quietly. There was something virtuous in her eyes that pulled us towards her. We sat with her and asked her name. She hesitated at first but with a calm and sweet voice, she replied ‘Nikita’.
Nikita, a 21-year-old girl, told us that she is from Madhya Pradesh. She used to study at a reputed school and had a decent lifestyle. Then, she was asked what brought her to ESF? Nikita replied that she, after being an orphan, was forced to live with her brother and sister in law.
Instead of getting love and care from her family, she was humiliated and tortured. One day when the situation became unmanageable, her family evicted her out of the house and she was abandoned. The age at which one must plan his/her career, Nikita was facing sexual harassment and was surviving on roads. Eventually, when Nikita was asking for shelter and food, two noblemen took her to the police station and she was brought here, to ESF. Despite facing such humiliation, Nikita is dedicated to her studies and career. She briefed that she had a keen interest in dancing and singing. Her constructive and positive attitude inspired all of us.
Courage is the most important of all the virtues because, without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.
She is ESF's courageous and warrior princess. Indeed, our visit to ESF was an immense success.
